Description
Peruvian stirrups and spur, bronze, copper alloy, circa 19th century. A) Single stirrup with caged crescent shape bottom with scalloped edging, vine motifs surrounds circle with star in middle, cross is in center of star. Size 6 1/2”T x 7”W. B) Single round stirrup with letters stamped on top near strap loop. Solid crescent shape foot rest. Size 5” Round. C) Single round stirrup with brace at top near strap loop, Solid crescent shape foot rest. Size 4 1/2” Round. D) Single stirrup with caged bottom, floral and vine motifs surround a fleur de lis. Strap loop at top flanked by leaf motifs. Size 7”T x 5”W. E) Single spur with uncaged rowel. Size 7”L x 4”W. F) Single Conquistador slipper stirrup, embellished with heads in tribal headgear, shaped like shells on either side of slipper, they are connected by a bar used for saddle strap. Tips are adorned with floral and leaf motif and a fleur de lis on toe. Inside, two triangles are cut out of sole. Slipper stirrups were lined in leather and attached to these cut outs.
