Up for sale is an absolutely perfect vintage black amethyst depression glass double candlestick in the “Mount Pleasant” pattern by L. E. Smith Glass! Smith made the Mount Pleasant pattern in the 1920s, and it’s also sometimes called “Double Shield”. It’s very popular, but it’s getting harder and harder to find pieces with no damage or oxidation. There are TWO of these candlesticks available for purchase in this auction - the buyer can take one or both! Both are immaculate! There are no chips, cracks, flakes, fleabites, nicks or roughness anywhere, and the glass is nice and shiny – absolutely no stains, scratches, oxidation or other marks whatsoever. They stand 4½ inches high, and measure 5½ inches across the front. There’s an embossed shield in the center on each side. The deep purple color shows through nicely when they're exposed to bright light, and they're absolutely guaranteed to be vintage – not reproduction or new glass. The Mount Pleasant pattern can be seen photographed in Gene Florence’s “Collector’s Encyclopedia of Depression Glass”. The buyer will pay shipping (and insurance if desired). Shipping will be combined for the buyer of more than one item whenever practical. Shipping is normally within 24 hours after receipt of PayPal payment (if other payment options are desired, please don’t hesitate to inquire). Please feel free to e-mail any other questions or requests for additional photos, and thanks very much for looking!!
